WE

     The client was looking for a different way of life, away from standardized education and the density of the city. They wanted their child to grow up close to nature, with the freedom to play, make, and imagine. This search led the family to Yangpyeong, to a site in the upper part of a village facing layers of mountains, mist, and clouds.

    The long, narrow site holds different views along its edges, from the nearby forest to the west-facing woods at sunset and the mountain road leading up to the land. These landscapes became an important starting point for the house.

    The house is home to two sisters and their families. It was planned to support both shared time and privacy, allowing the families to gather comfortably while keeping their own rhythms. The interior is kept calm and white, not to define a particular mood, but to leave space for different moments of everyday life to unfold.

    To the south, a large window opens the house to light and mountain views. Terraces on the second floor and to the west frame the ridgeline, forest, and sunset. The terrace and yard are connected so the child can move easily outside, while a small pool in the yard brings play and daily life into the landscape.

    Although the house opens widely toward the scenery, it was built with careful attention to insulation and airtightness. Photovoltaic panels were integrated with the roof angle so they would not appear directly on the main south-facing elevation. On the north side, smaller windows quietly bring in the nearby forest and soft light.

    Rather than creating a single dramatic scene, the house becomes a quiet backdrop for everyday moments to meet the surrounding landscape. Over time, the memories formed between the mountains, forest, terraces, and yard become the family’s own scenery.

    건축주는 정형화된 교육 환경과 밀집된 도시를 벗어나, 자녀가 자연 속에서 자유롭게 뛰놀고 창작하며 성장할 수 있는 삶을 고민했다. 그 끝에 가족은 양평의 한 마을 위쪽, 산과 안개, 구름이 겹쳐지는 풍경을 마주한 대지로 이주를 결정했다.

    남북으로 길고 동서로 좁은 대지는 경계를 따라 서로 다른 풍경을 품고 있었다. 가까운 숲, 해 질 무렵 노을이 걸리는 서쪽 숲, 멀리서 이어지는 산길의 풍경은 집 안으로 끌어들여야 할 중요한 조건이 되었다.

    이 집은 두 자매의 가족이 함께 거주하는 집이다. 가족이 함께 모일 수 있는 공유 공간과 각자의 시간을 지킬 수 있는 개인 공간 사이의 균형을 세심하게 조정했다. 내부는 특정한 분위기를 강하게 드러내기보다, 다양한 일상의 장면을 담을 수 있도록 단정한 흰색의 공간으로 정리했다.
    
남쪽에는 큰 창을 두어 산의 풍경과 빛을 적극적으로 받아들이고, 2층과 서쪽에는 테라스를 두어 능선과 숲, 노을을 바라볼 수 있도록 했다. 아이가 쉽게 밖으로 나갈 수 있도록 테라스와 마당의 동선을 자연스럽게 연결했고, 마당에는 작은 수영장을 두어 가족의 일상이 안과 밖을 오가며 이어지도록 했다.

    큰 창과 열린 공간을 계획하면서도 충분한 단열과 기밀성을 확보했고, 태양광 설비는 정남향 입면에서 직접 드러나지 않도록 지붕 각도와 함께 조정했다. 북쪽의 작은 창들은 가까운 숲과 부드러운 빛을 조용히 끌어들인다.

    이 집은 특별한 장면을 만들기보다, 일상의 순간들이 자연스럽게 풍경과 만나는 배경이 되고자 한다. 산과 숲, 테라스와 마당을 오가며 쌓이는 작은 기억들은 시간이 지나며 이 가족만의 새로운 풍경이 된다.
